MEET OUR PASTOR | Dr. Michael Cuba, Jr.
Teacher, encourager and administrator are a few descriptive terms of the life and ministry of Pastor Michael Cuba, Jr. Because of his unique presentation of the Word of God, his devotion to preach a simple message for the time and his compelling desire for the Word of God to be learned and applied in the lives of young people and adults; he has been officially deemed “a spiritual motivator”. Being a young man of God, the battles that have been conquered and attacks that have been survived only speak to why his ministry and expertise reigns in high demand.
Pastor Michael Cuba Jr. is the second child born to Deacon Michael Cuba Sr. and District Missionary Delphine Cuba. He is married to Missionary Milena Jean-Baptiste Cuba and is the father of Michael Cuba, III. He is a proud honor graduate of Lake Charles-Boston High School, which he serves as the 2006 Class President. Pastor Cuba accepted his call to ministry during his early teenage years under the leadership of the late Superintendent Ivanhoe Terry. He officially received his Minister’s License on August 20, 2006. In 2008, Pastor Cuba received his Master Teacher Certification from the C.H. Mason Bible College after two years of inductive study. On July 30, 2009, Pastor Cuba was officially consecrated and ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ via the First Jurisdiction of Louisiana by the jurisdictional prelate, Bishop Roy L.H. Winbush.
In the local church, he served in several capacities, Pastoral Assistant, Clerical Administrator, Youth Minister, Sunday School Teacher, and Usher. On the district level, he served as the District Executive Secretary, District Youth President, and now District Finance Chairman. Because of his humility and servitude, Bishop Roy L.H. Winbush's recommendation, he was inducted into the National Adjutancy of the Church of God in Christ, which serves the office of the International Presiding Bishop. In January 2011, Bishop Winbush once again elevated Pastor Cuba to Administrative Aide to the Bishop, being the youngest and the first ever to serve in this capacity, which he continues to serve under Bishop James W. Proctor. On August 6, 2014, Bishop Winbush officially appointed Elder Michael Cuba, Jr. as Pastor of Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ, now Saints Cathedral Church of God in Christ.
Pastor Cuba has a earned Bachelor of Arts degree in Government & Political Science from McNeese State University. He also holds a Master’s of Arts degree in Teacher Leadership from Louisiana Christian University and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is currently employed as a school administrator in Calcasieu Parish School System.
Pastor Cuba has served as an accomplished Community & Political analyst; he has been afforded the privilege to share with dignitaries such as Governors Jindal, Blanco, and Roemer, Judge Joe Brown, Martin Luther King III, Dr. Robert Franklin-President, numerous corporate CEOs, U.S. Generals at West Point Academy and many others. He serves in the city of Lake Charles as an advisor to the Mayor on the Southwest Louisiana Taskforce. He formally served as an Impact AmeriCorps Partner within the Office of the Louisiana Lieutenant Governor, volunteering over 1800 hours to community activities, hurricane recovery, tutoring elementary school students and mentoring local youth.
Above all, he is saved, sanctified, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Every opportunity afforded to him to minister or serve is a clear demonstration of the power of God revealed through this yielded vessel. He is anointed for this hour, prepared for this season and conditioned for this NOW generation.
